Jean-Pierre Bertrand is considered by the media and by the public to be one of the best Boogie Woogie pianists in France. Born in 1955 in St Germain en Laye, from the age of 14, he dedicated himself to learning this style by listening to pianists such as Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson, Sammy Price, Memphis Slim, Lloyd Glenn or Meade Lux Lewis.

Playing the piano solo, in duets, trios or with a band, since 1989 he has recorded 10 albums and created a concert called "Boogie Story" during which he shows the public the history of Boogie Woogie.
Apart from being the organiser and producer of "Jazz Nights and Boogie piano" in Paris and of the "Beaune Blues Boogie Woogie Festival" where every year the best pianists of this genre in the world are brought together, he also creates and organises musical events for corporate clients and individuals.

He played in 1997 at the Cincinnati Blues Festival (USA), in 1998 in Detroit during a concert dedicated to Classical Jazz piano, as well as at the Hanover (Germany) and The Hague (Holland) Jazz Festival.
In 2000, he played on the ice field at the North Pole, in Taiwan for Hermès-Paris and extends the number of opportunities that allow Blues, Swing and Boogie Woogie to make their musical contribution in exceptional locations.

He has performed on stage in piano duets with Ray Bryant, Bob Seeley, Axel Zwingenberger, Little Willie Littlefield and has regularly played with the eminent French pianist : Jean-Paul Amouroux.
He style is based on improvisation of Blues and Boogie Woogie and the revival of Jazz standards that he adapts in a very personal way without ever losing the Swing, the common theme of this music.

His nimbleness and the acoustic qualities of his piano playing lie, in particular, in his solid tempo, a profound knowledge of the difficult technique of the speciality that is Boogie Woogie and a fertile creativity in improvisation.

He is behind the "revival" of Boogie Woogie in France, playing a great part in its promotion by providing a platform for the current generation of Boogie Woogie, Blues and Swing pianists from around the world.
